Niamh Durcan is a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and Master of Social Work student at Stony Brook University, where she specializes in Families, Youth, and Transition to Adulthood. She earned bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Stony Brook University.
Niamh has experience supporting children, adolescents, and young adults with autism and other developmental disabilities across behavioral, educational, recreational, and community-based settings. As an RBT, she has provided individualized support focused on communication, social development, and skill building while collaborating with families and supervising clinicians.
At Long Island Mental Health & Wellness, Niamh works within our social and group programs and provides Family Evaluation Support to families following comprehensive evaluations. In this role, she helps families organize next steps, identify relevant resources and services, navigate community and developmental-disability supports, and follow through on recommendations provided by the evaluation team.
Niamh is particularly interested in supporting children and families through important developmental transitions and helping families connect with practical resources that promote independence, participation, and quality of life. Her collaborative, family-centered approach is a natural fit with LIMHW’s commitment to individualized, neurodiversity-affirming support.
