Dr. Jessica Scher Lisa

Together, we create a difference that resonates within each person and throughout the community.

I’m Dr. Jessica Scher Lisa, a licensed psychologist with a passion for helping children and adolescents navigate the complexities of growth and development. As the proud founder of Long Island Mental Health & Wellness, I am at the helm of a compassionate and dedicated group practice. Our mission is to offer a guiding hand and a listening ear to those navigating life’s challenges. We are steadfastly committed to providing personalized support and effective solutions for a diverse array of struggles faced by the individuals and families we serve. Whether it’s uncovering the underlying factors contributing to a child’s challenges or supporting a teenager in their journey toward self-acceptance and empowerment, our goal is to facilitate meaningful change and personal growth.

In addition, my role as a mother to four incredible children has given me a profound understanding of the joys and trials of parenting. This personal experience enriches my professional perspective, allowing me to offer realistic, compassionate advice and strategies to overcome the emotional and behavioral challenges that families often face.

A Few Things About Me

  • Having grown up on the picturesque North Shore of Long Island, my heart is forever tied to its sandy beaches and coastal charm. Yet, my true joy comes from spending time with my four children, whether we’re exploring nature or simply enjoying a good book together.
  • When I’m not at the beach soaking in the sun and surf, you’ll find me at the stables, nurturing my passion for horses, or planning our next family adventure to explore new places and cultures.
  • I believe that creating supportive and enriching environments for children is key to helping families thrive. I’m passionate about fostering strong attachments, togetherness, and confident parenting to build a harmonious and brighter future for all.

My Therapeutic Style

As a mother and a therapist, I understand the unique challenges that come with parenting and the desire to support your child’s growth and well-being. My approach is relaxed and supportive, yet I am committed to  encouraging both you and your child toward meaningful development. I prioritize a neurodiversity-affirming environment where everyone feels accepted and understood. You’ll find a non-judgmental space to explore your experiences, and I’ll provide honest feedback to help you and your family become the best versions of yourselves. Together, we can embark on a journey to a more fulfilling and harmonious family life.

In our sessions, I may help you and your child identify your thoughts, identify behavior patterns, and develop practical skills that you can apply beyond therapy. When working with children, I create a nurturing and playful setting to help them express their emotions safely. For teens, I focus on building a trusting relationship to support them through the complexities of adolescence. With young adults, I assist in navigating the transition to independence, addressing issues such as educational and career choices, relationships, and self-identity. My extensive experience allows me to foster confidence and sound decision-making, equipping you and your child to handle life’s challenges with greater resilience.
By combining these methods, I aim to offer a therapeutic experience that is both empowering and effective for all of those who entrust me to help them.

Your story, your concerns, and your aspirations matter here.

I invite you to reach out at any time to discuss how we can work together to support your journey. Here at our practice, we believe in the transformative power of understanding, the strength of community, and the boundless potential within every person we meet.
