Meet Kristin Walker

In the vibrant academic corridors of Stony Brook University, there unfolds the story of Kristin Walker, a Ph.D. student whose pursuit of Clinical Psychology is more than just a path of study—it's a commitment to making a difference. With a Master's degree already in her repertoire, Kristin's journey is a blend of rigorous research and hands-on clinical practice, each step taken with the aim of enriching the field of psychology.

As a graduate student clinician at the Krasner Psychological Center, Kristin's days are filled with meaningful encounters, providing therapeutic services that span the spectrum of mental health needs. From the intricate patterns of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to the multifaceted nature of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and oppositional behaviors, her work touches the lives of both youth and adults, reflecting her remarkable versatility and unwavering commitment.

With the precision of a scientist and the empathy of a clinician, she delves into psychoeducational evaluations, crafting each one as a key to unlock the doors to tailored care and interventions. It's in these moments of discovery that Kristin's impact is most profoundly felt, as she illuminates the path toward growth and understanding for her clients.

Her research, a beacon of her dedication, seeks to illuminate the experiences of the d/Deaf and hard of hearing and autistic communities. Kristin is not just exploring these worlds but is fiercely advocating for them, determined to unearth and address the disparities that shadow the disability community. With a focus on the intersectionality of these identities, her work is a testament to her belief in a more inclusive and equitable world.

Kristin Walker, with her academic brilliance and clinical prowess, weaves a narrative that is both inspiring and essential. Her presence in our practice is not merely an addition; it is a cornerstone of the compassionate, comprehensive care we strive to provide.
